Open-Cell Spray Foam Insulation
High-quality insulation and air sealing for interior walls, rooflines and acoustic applications.
Comfort without the gaps
Open-cell spray foam creates continuous insulation around framing and detailed areas that are difficult to seal with fitted insulation.
It is well suited to new homes, renovations, interior walls and rooflines where thermal comfort, air sealing and sound control are important.
Why choose open-cell spray foam?
Seals gaps
Forms a continuous air seal that helps prevent draughts, dust and airborne allergens entering through gaps.
Thermal comfort
Helps keep indoor temperatures more stable through changing seasons.
Sound control
Its soft cellular structure helps reduce sound transfer through interior walls and roof areas.
Stays in place
Adheres to the substrate and does not slump or settle inside the cavity.
Detailed coverage
Fits around framing and services to create consistent coverage across complex areas.
Built for the home
A high-quality insulation option for architectural, coastal, passive and everyday homes.
Open-cell R-values
Walls are filled flush with the framing. Roof and ceiling applications are installed to the required R-value.
Where open-cell foam can be used
New homes
Interior wall and roofline insulation for new residential builds.
Renovations
We can install spray foam insulation during a renovation when the wall linings have been removed.
Rooflines and ceilings
Continuous insulation through deeper roof and ceiling spaces.
Acoustic areas
Interior walls, bedrooms, media rooms and other spaces where sound control matters.
Open-cell or closed-cell?
We will recommend the foam that suits the area, required insulation value and project design.
Open-cell foam
High-quality interior insulation with excellent air sealing and sound-control benefits.
Closed-cell foam
A denser, rigid foam with a higher insulation value per millimetre for interior and exterior applications.
Open-cell spray foam questions
What is open-cell spray foam insulation?
It is a lightweight polyurethane insulation sprayed into interior wall, ceiling and roof cavities. It expands around framing to form continuous insulation and an air seal.
What R-value does open-cell spray foam provide?
Open-cell foam provides R0.78 per 25 mm, R2.8 at 90 mm and R6.6 at 210 mm.
Is open-cell spray foam good for soundproofing?
Open-cell foam helps reduce sound transfer and is a strong choice for interior walls, bedrooms, media rooms and other acoustic applications.
Can open-cell foam be used in an existing home?
Yes, we can install spray foam insulation during a renovation when the wall linings have been removed.
Does open-cell spray foam slump over time?
No. Spray foam adheres to the substrate and stays in place rather than slumping and leaving air gaps.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell foam?
Open-cell is a softer foam used mainly for interior insulation and sound control. Closed-cell is denser, rigid and provides a higher R-value per millimetre.
