Technical Details – Polyurea
There are many different system’s available for Polyurea products depending on area of application and desired use. We work closely with our product manufacturer’s to ensure the correct system is installed. Please see below some examples of common drawing details we apply.
Aromatic Polyurea with UV stable Top Coating – Concrete Substrate
– Concrete substrate prepared for coatings via grinding or blasting to achieve desired surface profile
– Hydrepoxy or Epoxy moisture barrier system applied if concrete exceeds 75%RH
– Internal coving detailed with fillet or chamfer using silicon or cement products
– Junction detailed using specified debonding tape to allow for junction movement
– Aromatic Polyurea membrane spray applied using plural-component equipment to specified thickness forming a seamless flexible membrane
– First coat of UV resistant Polyaspartic or Aliphatic top coating applied
– (optional) Non-Slip material added to achieve desired Anti-Skid rating
– Final coat of UV resistant top coating applied
Example System Notes:
– Moisture barrier system can include crack repairs and further junction detailing
– Junction bandage detail can be smoothed off if aesthetic’s are required
– Aromatic Polyurea comes in a wide range of Shore scale and elongation to suit the project requirements
– Slip-resistant finishes available from R9 (smooth decorative) to R13 (high-aggression industrial)
– Polyaspartic or Aliphatic UV-stable topcoats depending on the project’s exposure conditions, desired appearance, and maintenance requirements.
